Butterscotch Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup Shortening {part butter, softened)
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla
  • 2 ½ cup Flour (sifted)
  • 1 tsp. Baking Powder·
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  • 1 Egg White

Directions

  • Mix shortening, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla. Blend in flour, baking powder and salt. Cover dough, chill 2 hours.
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Roll dough 1/8" thick on floured surface. Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters.
  • Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Brush with beaten egg whit and sprinkle with mixture of white sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg (1/4 cup white sugar, ½ tsp. Cinnamon, 1/8 tsp. Nutmeg).
  • Bake 6-8 minutes or until very light brown.
