Chocolate Chip Cake

Ingredients

  • 2 cups All Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Dark Brown Sugar (packed)
  • ½ cup Sugar
  • 3 tsp. Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp. Baking Soda
  • ½ cup Shortening
  • 1 ¼ cup Milk
  • 3 Eggs (1/2 - 2/3 cups)
  • ½ cup Semi-sweet Chocolate Pieces (finely chopped)
  • 1 ½ tsp. Vanilla
  • ¼ cup Finely Chopped Walnuts
  • ½ cup Light Brown Sugar (packed)
  • ¼ cup Cornstarch
  • ¼ tsp. Salt
  • ½ cup Water
  • 1 Tbsp. Butter
  • ½ cup Semi-sweet Chocolate Pieces
  • 2 Tbsp. Butter
  • 1 Tbsp. Light Corn Syrup

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Grease/flour 2 round baking pans.
  • Measure all ingredients except filling, walnuts and glaze into large bowl.
  • Blend ½ minute on low speed, scraping bowl constantly.
  • Beat 3 minutes on high spread, scraping bowl occasionally.
  • Pour into pans.
  • Bake 40-45 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool.
  • Fill layers with butterscotch filling, sprinkling nuts over top of cake and let drizzle down the sides.
